The town, which was founded in 1513 by Conquistador Diego Velázquez, is the birthplace of Cuban patriot Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and the place where Cuba's National Anthem was composed. The hotel dates back to the 1940’s and is well located opposite of Parque Céspedes in the center of town. The 33 air-conditioned rooms (four rooms offer small balconies) are nicely decorated and all have private showers and a television. The streets surrounding the park are traffic-free making for a relaxed pedestrian-friendly atmosphere with a few shops, restaurants, bars and even a cinema in the vicinity.
